A young couple was dropped off by the woman's grandmother for an abortion around
10:00 am, while people were gathered in prayer at the sidewalk. Soon, the couple
came out of the clinic and spoke with R. [name obscured], who gave them the
"Before You Choose" brochure. They were very young, about 15 years
old, unmarried, with limited resources, and had been under a lot of family pressure
to have an abortion, including the grandmother who dropped them off earlier.
However, they didn't want to have an abortion. The father especially desired
to have this baby. The woman had been given an ultrasound at [un-named abortion
facility], and although they tried to hide it from her, she succeeded in looking
at the ultrasound screen. She saw something…"What's that?", she
asked. The [abortion facility] technician said, "Oh, it's nothing.",
but the young woman knew better. She told E., "I saw a little hand".
That revelation, in addition to the couple saying, "Yeah, we noticed people
were out here praying as we came in…", brought them out the doors
of the abortion facility.
After talking to them for awhile, E. then offered them a ride to the Sacramento
Life Center. However, when they arrived, there were already other clients
waiting and no counselor appointments were available for at least an hour.
E. wasn't sure what to do, but she knew she couldn't take them back to [the
abortion facility], so as they drove by McKinley Park, the couple thought
it looked lovely and E. suggested they stay in the park until an appointment
slot came available at the Life Center. Amazingly, they agreed to just wait
at the park while E. returned to the sidewalk to continue praying for LIFE.
At close to 11:00, E. went back to McKinley Park and picked up the couple to
try again for an appointment at the Life Center. Miraculously, when they arrived,
the person who was already scheduled for an appointment at 11:00 did not show
up, so they were able to speak with a counselor immediately.
Isn't it amazing that this couple trusted E. enough to get into her car, go
to the Life Center, find no appointment available, wait patiently in the park
for an hour, and then go back to the Life Center to be given an immediate opening?
Some time later, they left the Life Center as thrilled new parents, given baby
supplies, clothes, and other gifts. E. treated them to lunch and then drove
them all the way home, which gives her an opportunity to maintain contact with
them throughout the pregnancy. So often, we don't have a way to connect with
the family after they change their mind and leave the abortion clinic, but here
is a wonderful opportunity to show this family the Love of Christ from this
day forward, which brings up another need for this ministry…. For those of
you who are not comfortable coming to the clinic sidewalk, we could use some
extra help with follow-up support of the couples who do choose LIFE, such as
making calls of support, helping with appointments, providing other assistance,
inviting them to attend Church, praying with and for them, etc. Let me know
if you are interested in this aspect of the pro-life ministry, for our "job"
doesn't stop at the sidewalk.
The couple was very appreciative, thanking E. and the Life Center staff several
times. According to E., they said, "God was watching over us today. We
are so thankful He sent you guys here, because we really didn't know what to
do. Thank you so much.", which reminds me of the song "Angels to the
Rescue" provided by Rupert Johnson of Guadalupe Music. See http://emcfrontline.org/index.php
to listen.
Thanks and praise be to God, this was the second baby saved this week, and I
understand there might have even been a second life saved today, but I don't
have details on that to share with you. Our prayers are being answered, let
us respond with even more prayers for LIFE, including those of Thanksgiving.
